Sustainable Digital Art - DiSK_ART

09/09/2025

When in the midst of the 90s more capable storage devices came on the market, I felt, that the time was there, that diskettes may no longer be available soon. So what to do? Jump on the hip- train and leave them behind? - No way!

So how to preserve them from being no longer userd an soon to be forgotten? Simply making art with, on and out of them... but: they had to be still usable and ready to contain data. That's when I made my first DiSK_ART- objects. This one below is from 2019 and called DiSK_SCAPE. It has taken part in a show called "LAND WATER SKY" and won the award "HONOURABLE MENTION". So just sit back and try to identify what the three stages may be...

"DiSK_SCAPE", 68 x 24 x 2.5 cms, watercolor on canvas, created in 2019, DiSK_ART was invented to save media from being pharsed out and considered as no longer useful, all diskettes of the DiSK_ART pieces are still useable and can be taken from the canvas to store or read data, this is what you can call: real sustainable art inside the RAC 1990. Attention: the color of the original is may be a bit more intensive and slightly darker due to an active copyprotection!
